Position Overview:
The Associate Director (AD), Patient Access will lead the execution of strategic business goals as outlined by the Director, Patient Access by developing and implementing strategic plans and tactics to ensure business goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met. The AD, Patient Access will be directly responsible for the oversight of Patient Access Programs, leading the Patient Support Specialist (PSS) team, driving key initiatives and developing training plans. The AD, Patient Access will oversee the daily operations of Patient Access, driving continuous improvement and leading the implementation of any new technology and programs. The AD will lead the strategic planning and execution of Quarterly Business Reviews with established business partners.
This role requires the ability to effectively lead a team, build constructive business relationships and influence both internal and external partners. This is a highly visible and entrepreneurial position requiring a great degree of leadership, collaboration, creativity, and solution focused approach to optimize access. A successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the patient, prescriber, payer, and channel/distribution flow for BESREMi® and its connection to the business model for BESREMi® and competitor products.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational oversight of HUB, Specialty Pharmacy partnerships and Patient Access Programs while ensuring alignment of internal and external stakeholders on business objectives, KPIs and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and business rules are up to date and communicated to key stakeholders.
- Identify and implement strategies to promote operational efficiencies and scalability within Patient Access.
- Continuously monitor Patient Access Metrics to track progress toward KPIs and other key business objectives, while leading initiatives and activities that drive goal achievement.
- Identify and communicate emerging trends that may impact meeting KPIs or other key business objectives to the Director, Patient Access.
- Support implementation of program enhancements, technology integration, and process improvements.
- Partner with cross-functional team members to support and facilitate key business initiatives.
- Lead PSS team, providing guidance and support while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment and ensuring team members are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to succeed.
- Measure individual performance against MBOs and deliver performance evaluations within designated timeframes.
- Maintain comprehensive new hire training and continuous learning for the PSS team, ensuring they are equipped with necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill job requirements.
- Manage manufacturer free goods and co-pay programs and ensure they are administered in accordance with approved business rules.
- Ensure data integrity through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and optimize the utilization of data collected in databases.
- Adhere to all compliance requirements and applicable laws and regulations as outlined by the Legal Team and company trainings
- Travel to and represent Patient Access as necessary at commercial and other relevant business-related meetings
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in healthcare, life sciences, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in patient access, case management, reimbursement, or related fields, with a strong understanding of payer coverage, benefits verification, and prior authorization processes.
- Expertise in hub services, financial assistance programs, charitable access, and affordability solutions.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team while managing multiple strategic initiatives.
- Experience with rare disease, oncology and/or other specialty therapies preferred.
- Strong understanding of billing/coding, insurance plan types, medical and pharmacy benefits, and healthcare regulations (state and federal).
- Strong analytical capabilities to assess trends, identify challenges, and drive data-informed decisions and recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to represent the patient access function in both internal and external forums.
- Adaptability in a dynamic and evolving healthcare landscape.
- High level of initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
