Position Overview:
The Associate Director, Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a highly visible, field-based strategic marketing leader responsible for shaping commercial strategy through meaningful engagement with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and influential healthcare professionals across the MPN community.

Serving as the strategic interface for KOLs both internally and externally, the TLL engages thought leaders across academic and community settings. TLLs build trusted partnerships, connect insights across stakeholders, inform brand strategies, and identify opportunities to support BESREMi adoption.
This role goes beyond relationship management by ensuring the voice of the customer informs brand planning, lifecycle management, launch readiness, speaker development, and commercial execution.
The successful candidate brings strong hematology-oncology expertise, strategic thinking, curiosity, and agility, with the ability to build credibility externally while partnering effectively across Marketing, Medical, Sales, Market Access, and Executive Leadership.

Key Responsibilities of a TLL:

Cross-functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional planning for strategic KOL engagement
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Sales Leadership, Clinical Development, Training, and Executive Leadership to ensure coordinated customer engagement
  • Lead KOL Engagement activities for Congress
  • Recommend speakers, support speaker training, and monitor speaker programs to identify strategic updates and development opportunities
  • Aligning with cross-functional partners leading ad boards to manage advisor recruitment, define strategic objectives and assist in execution when needed
Market Development & Thought Leader Identification
  • Develop regional thought leader engagement strategies that align with commercial priorities, broaden customer reach, and expand commercial influence.
  • Continuously identify, prioritize, and engage both established and emerging hematology-oncology experts across academic and community settings.
  • Develop new KOL relationships through proactive outreach, field presence, congress engagement, and strategic networking.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to ensure KOL suitability for collaborations
Relationship Building and Management
  • Build trusted, long-term partnerships with established and emerging KOLs through thoughtful, consistent engagement grounded in credibility, inquisitiveness, and mutual value
  • Develop a deep understanding of each KOL’s clinical focus, priorities, influence, and educational interests to create tailored engagement strategies to support commercial objectives
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and other commercial partners to fortify HCP relationship with PharmaEssentia
Commercial Insight Gathering
  • Translate field insights into actionable recommendations that shape brand strategy, customer engagement, lifecycle planning, and launch readiness.
  • Identify emerging treatment trends, competitive dynamics, referral patterns, unmet needs, and evolving customer perceptions
  • Partner with Brand Marketing to inform messaging, positioning, educational priorities, and future commercial initiatives
  • Lead insight gathering with opinion leaders through one-on-one engagements, small group meetings, conferences, and advisory steering committees to generate actionable input that informs brand strategy
  • Build, support, and manage advisory steering committees that advance insight generation and strategic planning
Thought Leader Development and Advocacy
  • Identify and cultivate future regional and national experts
  • Expand the diversity of clinical voices representing the evolving treatment paradigm in MPN
  • Engage KOLs to deliver the BESREMi value story through internal and external initiatives including video content, KOL-led education, speakers bureau, and internal meetings
  • Develop speaker and faculty pipelines regionally
  • Increase expert participation in key engagements to advance commercial objectives
Performance Measurement and Reporting:
  • Utilize CRM, AI-enabled insight management platforms, and analytics to identify engagement trends and emerging opportunities.
  • Leverage qualitative and quantitative data to optimize engagement strategies
  • Report insights gathered through AI management tool and other avenues to make strategic marketing recommendations and inform strategy
Education and experience requirements:
BS/BA or equivalent required preferably in Marketing, Science, Business Administration or other similar degree; an MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 8–12+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology commercial experience
  • Deep experience in Hematology-Oncology required; Myeloproliferative Neoplasm (MPN), leukemia, or other rare hematologic malignancy experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with nationally and regionally recognized hematology-oncology experts
  • Experience leading congress strategy, speaker development, advisory board strategy and insight generation is strongly preferred

  • Strong scientific acumen and business acumen, with the ability to use knowledge of the industry and marketplace to identify long-term benefits for our customers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with KOLs
  • Analytical skills to evaluate insights and identify actionable themes to inform marketing strategy
  • Strategic thinking to align KOL development plan within region built around marketing objectives
  • Knowledge of industry trends and target audience demographics
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
  • Leads through influence and with impact across teams
  • Self-starter. Takes initiative and works independently to successfully work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, communication, and organization skills
  • Understanding of compliance environment in pharmaceutical promotions
  • Flexibility to travel 50-70% of the time, including evenings and weekends
  • Must live within assigned geography, near a major airport
The role requires candidate to live near a major airport. 
The expected base salary range for this position is $185,000 to $215,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education and geographical location. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible for short-term and long-term incentives.
